Instructor
Nathan Waddell is an IIRP instructor and currently serves in the Department of School Culture at Knox County Schools in Knoxville, Tennessee. In this role, he contributes to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering positive school environments and enhancing student success. Nathan's involvement with the IIRP began through a partnership with Knox County Schools as part of a comprehensive strategic planning effort to improve school culture across the district.
With 18 years of experience in the field of education, Nathan has developed a diverse background that spans multiple areas of expertise. He began his career working in alternative education settings, focusing on behavior modification and diagnostic classrooms. Over the years, he has worked in various special education settings, gaining valuable experience in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Nathan eventually transitioned into school administration, where he has led efforts to improve student outcomes and foster inclusive school environments. Nathan's passion for education is driven by a deep commitment to improving student experiences, creating inclusive environments, and fostering growth through collaboration and restorative practices.
Nathan holds a bachelor of arts in Psychology and a master of science in Special Education, both from the University of Tennessee. He also earned an Instructional Leadership License (ILL) in Administration from Bethel University, further advancing his skills in educational leadership and management.
Outside of his professional commitments, Nathan enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family. He is a proud pet owner, sharing his home with two dogs and one cat.
