Dawn Schantz, Motivational Interviewing consultant for juvenile justice in the state of Pennsylvania, explains how the skill of motivational interviewing can simultaneously hold people to high expectations while also providing high support for helping them internalize their own motivations for change.
Schantz has over 30 years of experience in Pennsylvania’s juvenile justice system and will be co-facilitating a new IIRP professional development event, Motivational Interviewing: Restorative Dialogue and Interventions for Change. She holds a master’s degree in Restorative Practices and Youth Counseling from the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) Graduate School.
