The education specialization provides coursework that focuses on teaching and learning using practical, timeless, evidence-based practices to create a sense of belonging, minimize harm, and improve school climate.
Themes explored in the education specialization include facilitating conversations to navigate complex situations with students, families, colleagues, and administrators. Students in this specialization will develop the skills to support their students socially, emotionally, neurologically, and academically. These skills will allow graduates to develop anti-racist education, challenge current educational systems, and cultivate students who are better equipped to navigate complex challenges, self-regulate, manage conflict, and become better citizens.
Within the degree specialization, students can trailblaze their own path and expand the field of restorative practices by adding the thesis option to their master’s degree.

Requirements
To earn the specialization recognition on a transcript, the following are required in addition to the required coursework for the Master of Science:
- Four of your electives, including two at the 600 level, must be related to the specialization. These include:
- Your project for your final course, RP 699 Integrating Seminar, must be rooted in your specialization.
